Apolitical is the world’s largest community of public servants, with a mission to build 21st century governments that work for people and the planet. Apolitical is used by 250,000 public servants and policymakers in 160 countries to find and share best practice through communities of peers, and to upskill with flexible online learning on 21st century government priorities, covering key topics such as digital technologies, artificial intelligence, data, climate change, sustainable development, leadership, and strategic thinking.
The first program, in partnership with Apolitical, will support CDTOs and professionals in public sector digitalization, helping them adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of artificial intelligence and understand its societal and economic impact. This course is designed for professionals without a technical background who seek a foundational understanding of AI.
The course covers topics such as the principles of AI operation, the capabilities of AI tools, the risks of technology, and the legal regulation of AI. Special attention is given to the concept of Human-Centered AI, which is an ethical approach to implementing AI in public governance. Participants will be able to explore practical cases and approaches for applying the knowledge gained in their institutions.
The training will be conducted asynchronously, allowing a flexible schedule and independent study of the learning materials through the program. Powered by content from Stanford Online, it includes lectures and resources from faculty and researchers at Stanford University's Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) on the capabilities of AI and its impact on government. Additionally, students will gain valuable insights into public governance from Apolitical and their global community of public servants during their studies.
